Dr. James Collins, the founder and Medical Director of The Center for Eye Care and Optical, graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1974 and served his residency in Ophthalmology and Ophthalmologic Surgery here on Long Island at the Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Collins was Board Certified in 1978 and is the Editor/Author of Handbook of Clinical Ophthalmology and The Ophthalmic Desk Reference, textbooks for other eye doctors and Your Eyes: An Owner's Guide, a manual for the general public. Dr. James Collins is a Clinical Instructor at Stonybrook University Medical Center and the U.S. Veterans Affairs Hospital in Northport where he teaches eye surgery to resident doctors in training. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Scientist at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, an Affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
